About this event
Training Description
This is a 4-week training workshop, that covers the complete Digital IC design flow from scratch to the GDSII with hands-on experience on industry-standard tools. The training consists of three different modules.
Module 1
This module covers:
basics of Digital design using HDL.
a description of Datapath, controller paradigm.
Writing the test benches of hardware
Module 2
This module covers:
Introduction to RISC-V Instruction Set Architecture.
How to design RISC-V-based microprocessor core.
Implementation of partial Instructions of RISC-V base ISA.
Formal verification techniques of RISC-V-based CPU core.
Module 3
This module covers:
Introduction to physical design flow of digital IC.
Implementation of RTL-to-GDSII of the CPU designed in module 2.
Hands-on experience with industry-standard Cadence Tools.
Pre-Requisites
Basic familiarity with Digital system design.
Basic familiarity with HDL: Verilog or System Verilog
TargetAudience
The target audience for this training program is fresh or graduate students with degree in Electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or relevant discipline, who are passionate about getting into the digital design industry.
Registration
Number of seats: 15
90% funding is available for limited seats which will be based on a screening test. The remaining 10% will be reimbursed if the candidate secures 80% marks in the final evaluation.
Dr. Muhammad Tahir is a Professor and chairperson in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago in Fall, 2008. He received his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and M.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology in Lahore, Pakistan. His current research interest includes Advance computer architectures and Microprocessor systems.
Ubaidullah Fayyaz
UET Lahore
Dr. Ubaidullah Fayyaz earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He currently serves as an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering.
Ahsen Tahir
UET Lahore
Dr. Ahsen Tahir earned his Ph.D. from the University of Glasgow. He is currently serving as an assistant professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering UET Lahore.
